Being a farmer, seeing your rice field submerged in a waist-deep flood is totally a nightmare after putting your full effort, time, and money for the hope of a good harvest.
This was the exact experience of a local farmer in Aparri, Cagayan who tried to save the unharvested rice despite of the cold wind and heavy rain with his half body was submerged into deep flood.

In a Facebook post of Romeo Furangganan, he uploaded couple of videos and photos where the farmer can be seen trying to save the unharvested rice as many as he could in a hope to reduce his already looming loss.
Many of the netizens expressed their sympathy to the farmer who chose to be braver and did what he can to save some of his planted rice instead of giving up and losing hope because of the situation.

“Nakakalungkot. Magsasaka rin ang magulang ko kaya ramdam ko ang ganyan. Nakakaawa ang magsasaka natin kapag kalamidad ang kalaban. Hirap ng isang magsasaka bago pa lumaki at anihin tapos aabutin ng ganito. Luging-lugi talaga. ‘Wag po sana mawalan ng pag-asa, may mabuti sana maging kapalit ang pinagdaanan niyong pagsubok ngayon. God bless you po,” a netizen named Jing Jing said on the comment section of the post which now has over 2.8k reactions, 14k shares and now is being shared by different Facebook page.

Based on the report, according to the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC), a total of 1,673 farmers were affected by floods in Cagayan which also destroyed almost 3,000 hectares of farmland. A state of calamity was also declared in the province due to severe flooding.
Philippines has been through a lot of typhoons that usually resulted to huge amount of casualties. However, Filipinos still manage to get up again with a smile on their face. Some good samaritans extends their helping hands in situations like this.
We are praying for the affected victims of the storm who have lost their business, properties and the likes because of the flood.
