It is nice to have a father who will be there for us through as we grow. They play a big part in every child's upbringing. In many households, a father play the vital role of being head of the family. They are usually in charged in the part of setting rules and guildlines for the house for each of its family members. A father is also known for their tough love that teaches their children to be independent and responsible for the consequences of their own actions. Along with the mother, they guide their children along the path they want to follow.
Last August 20, fans and family members celebrated 80th birthday of King of Philippine Movies, Fernando Poe, Jr. Many consider his passing to be untimely when he had a stroke and slipped into coma last December 11, 2004. Despite all the efforts of his doctors, FPJ never regained consciousness and eventually breath his last three days later on December 14. And even after being gone now for more than a decade, people still continue to pay their tribute the one and only "Da King".
Every year, his family leaded by his widow, veteran actress Susan Roces, holds a mass and a small celebration to commemorate FPJ's birthday in his resting place in the Manila North Cemetery. It has always been a tradition of FPJ's family to give grocery supplies to his fans and followers who attend their yearly birthday celebration of the late actor.
Kapuso actress Lovi Poe, one of FPJ's children was also planning to visit his father's grave. According to Lovi, she had not visited his father for some time now and she wants to offer prayers for him in lieu of the celebration of his birthday.
"Of course, I wanna visit Papa’s puntod kasi medyo matagal na rin akong hindi nakakapunta doon, I would say a little prayer for him"
The 30 year old actress added that if FPJ was still alive, her life as it is now might have been different. Lovie said she could have been a psychologist an alternate career if his father was still around. Nonetheless, the young Poe said she's still happy and thankful the way things have turned out now.
"Napag-usapan na rin namin ito ng kaibigan ko na parang maybe things would have been different if he was still alive.
"Things maybe different but, I guess, I’m just happy where I am now.
Even now that his father is gone, Lovie is still grateful to the people and family around here that continues to guide and support both her private life and show business career.
