Poverty is the number 1 problem of most countries. If you observe and roam around the streets, you will see the reality of life. Many homeless people, regardless of the age, men or women, will be seen along the corners of every city struggling in their everyday lives. No shelter to sleep on, no food to eat, no water, no proper hygiene will make you think how can they survive in everyday life.
Given their situation, most of us, admit it or not, sometimes think of them in a bad way. We tend to think that homeless people will do everyting or anything just to have money even if it is from a dirty manner. For example, if you drop a wallet in front of a homeless man, you will automatically judge him and think that he might get it and steal the money inside. This story that you are about to read will make your insights different and will even leave you with teary eyes.
In Thailand, a homeless man who struggles a lot in the street everyday, a man who has nothing but his chains, made everyone in surprised and even restored the faith in humanity after doing something with a lost wallet full of money.
The homeless man who was identified as Waralop found a lost Hermes wallet that contains $578 or PHP 30,000 along with a couple of credit cards. He could have kept the money because technically, he didn't steal it, he actually found it. He could have get all the moeny to buy himself foods, clothes, or rent a room to stay for a day but he didn't.
Instead of keeping the money for his own selfish needs, he decided to surrender the wallet at a police station just to make sure that the true owner gets it back.
The owner of the wallet, Niity Pongkriangyos was then made aware of his lost wallet. Pongkriangyos wasn’t just surprised that he had lost his wallet, but that it was also returned by a homeless man.
“I was totally surprised when the police told me they had my wallet as I didn’t even know I’d lost it. If it was me in that position with no money, I probably would have kept it," Pongkriangyos said.
Due to his honesty and pure heart, Waralop was offered to have a job in Ponkriayos' company and was also given a place to live in. Ponkriayos' girlfriend posted it online and shared that Waralop stayed his life roaming the streets and often slept at Huay Kwang MRT station, but now his life had its turning point because of his good deed.
Tarika Patty, the girlfriend, also accompanied him to a store to buy new clothes.
The story of Waralop went viral on social media and was praised by the netizens. They are thankful that he has such a good heart despite of all the hardships in his life, they also appreciated the grateful owner of the wallet, Pongkriayos for acknowledging the honesty of the man and even gave him a lifetime changing experience.
