Mga senior citizen na hindi tumatanggap ng pension, nais mabigyan ng 1,000 kada-buwan!

Based on the Philippine Constitution, Republic Act 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010, indigenous senior citizens should receive an annual monthly allowance of 500 pesos.

Due to the continious price increase of the basic needs, the 500 pesos monthly allowance is now not enough to meet the daily needs of the seniors especially those with medications. With this, Senator Kiko Pangilinan proposed a bill No. 259 which states that, from 500 pesos the benefit should incease up to 1,000 peso. The proposed bill also states that, aside from the senior ctizens, indigents and pensionless citizens should also be included as beneficiaries.

According to the senator, the law was made for almost 9 years, so it could be revised.

"Hindi na ito sapat para sa araw-araw na gastusin at lalo na sa pang medical. Tumaas na ang halaga ng mga pangunahing bilihin at ibinaba nito ang totoong halagang ng social pension na tinatanggap ngayon," Senator Kiko said.
(It is not enough for the daily needs especially to those with medical needs. The price increased of the daily needs decreased the amount of social pension.)

Sen. Pangilinan based his statement and his proposed bill to the study of 2017 which shows that the 500 peso amount in 2017 was down to 403 pesos in the current year, almost 20% of the pension.

The proposed bill of Senator Kiko Pangilinan is beneficiary especially to those who are really in needs of support from the government. It will help them to meet their basic needs, truly, we are rooting for this bill to become a law.
