Lyca Jane Epe Gairanod or also known as "Lyca Gairanod" is the first ever singer champion in 'The Voice Kids Phillippines.' She won the title on 2014 making her on the top of Darren Espanto and Juan Karlos Labajo. She also brought home 2 million peso cash prize, recording contract and a house and lot in Camella.
Before she joined the said show, Lyca used to be a street kid in Tanza, Cavite. One netizen recorded her singing and uploaded it to Facebook. Soon after, her video went viral because of her powerful voice. It was also the first key to success of Lyca.
She won in the autdition and chose Pop-Star Princess, Saraha Geronimo as her vocal coach. Gairanod made it to the finals and became the first winner of The Voice Kids Philippines. After winning the title, Lyca signed the contract under ABS-CBN Star Magic Management.
From a 'street kid' Lyca is now 14-year-old teen actress and singer. She was well-known on singing that 'panlasa ng masa' songs like Aegis' "Basang-Basa sa Ulan" and was dubbed as "little superstar." She is now expanding her horizons to incude acting, she starred in "Hawak Kamay" and "Maalala Mo kaya," "Goin' Bulilit," and "It's Showtime." Her most recent TV apperance was the "Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids Edition" where she impersonated several most well-known artists, inlcuding Nora Aunor.
As of today, Gairanod continues to perform in mall shows, as well as in vlogs with her fellow "Your Face' contestant Sam Shoaf. One viral video of the teen star was her "make-up tutorial" where the netizens found it cute because she is not that "pro" but she's very entertaining to watch. The video was more entertaining when she said, "Charaaan" after doing her make-up. This video of her went viral and made it as a "meme." Her youtube account has a total of 141,000 subscribers.
On her singing career, her first debut album 'Puede Nang Mangarap" was released in 2015 under MCA Music Inc and she had the chance to travel abroad such as Australia and Hong Kong to perform. Gairanod has also received her first awit Award for Best Performance by a Child for her rendition of Regine Velasquez's "Narito Ako."
Recently this year, Lyca wows the netizens after uploading her "glow up" photos on social media. The photos shows how her career made her an amazing beautiful teen age girl. From helping her father to collects discarded plastics, old newspapers, and other recyclable scraps in their hometown, she is now the breadwinner of their family by making lots of money because of her singing career.
Truly, dreams do come true for a child star like Lyca Gairanod. Who would imagine that viral girl from the street, is now one of the successfel teen of her generation.
