The barangay treasurer of San Isidro, Iriga City Camarines Sur was arrested after losing the money of barangay officials to gambling. The money was supposed to be the monthly salary of his co-workers.
According to the police, Brngy. Treasurer Gabriel Vargas went to their office last Tuesday, October 22 to report the hold-up incident he experienced.

"Tinignan namin yung area kung saan siya hinold-up. May CCTV doon, ni-review namin yung footages ng CCTV. Tatlong beses siya pabalik-balik sa area, may kausap siya sa telepono. Nagduda kami. Sabi ko, kung hoholdapin ka sa isang lugar, dapat isang pasada lang, isang daan ka lang," said Police Lieutenant Colonel Elmer Mora, acting chief of police of Iriga City Police.
It was also seen in CCTV footage that Vargas is on a phone call when suddenly a man walks towards him and hit him a rock in his head.

"Yung suspek na supposed to be na pumalo sa kanya, nahuli namin. Dun namin nalaman na siya pala ay binayaran ng five thousand para siya ay holdapin kunwari, pukpukin siya sa ulo para mawalan siya ng malay at matumba then kunin daw yung bag. Yun ang instruction sa kanya, eh," Mora added.

The hold-up incident turns out as a foul play planned by Vargas. He hired someone to hold-up him after he loses the P275,000 monthly salary of barangay officials to gambling. As per the police, Vargas lose twice.
His accomplice was known as Jimmy Padayao.

Gabriel Vargas worked in his barangay for years and his co-workers are determined to file a case against him. He is facing Obstruction of Justice for what he did while the case against his other accomplices is still on process.
